KATHMANDU: A meeting of House of Representatives (HoR) began on Monday afternoon after political parties, including the main opposition, Nepali Congress agreed to resume the parliamentary proceedings.
This was possible after Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara took the initiatives to end the parliamentary impasse by convening an all-party meeting.
The parties agreed to form a seven-member parliamentary special committee headed by former Speaker Subash Chandra Nemwang to deal with any parliamentary obstruction in the future.
Speaker Mahara will publicize the names of the committee members soon. With today’s agreement, the obstruction of the House proceedings by Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe into the Sarlahi incident, have ended.
