Greed-driven father murders his daughter to claim insurance coverage

RAUTAHAT: A father has murdered his own daughter for insurance coverage worth Rs 2.5 million.

According to police, 39-year-old Ram Kishor Yadav of Maulapur Municipality-6, Patharabudharam, Rautahat, strangled his five years old daughter Laxmi Raya Yadav to death to claim the insurance.

The dead body was found floating in a pond. District Police Office, Rautahat arrested Yadav and paraded him in a press conference on Friday.

DSP Nabin Karki of Rautahat Police said Yadav ruthlessly murdered his own daughter to claim Rs 2.5 million in insurance coverage.

Laxmi is the youngest daughter of Ram Kishor. He had insured his daughter at Prabhu Bank for Rs 2.5 million for her bright future.

He had paid the first installment of insurance around Rs 175,000 at the bank.

Somebody told him that he would get the double insurance amount in case the insured person is dead. Ram Kishor killed her daughter on the 29th day of her insurance to claim the double amount of insurance, said police.

According to DSP Karki, Ram Kishor strangulated her daughter to death before he dumped her into a pond.

Karki said they have filed a murder case against him in line with Crime (Code) Act 2017 and are investigating him on a five-day remand from Rautahat District Court.
