MoU on bilateral consultation mechanism between Nepal, Norway



KATHMANDU: A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Nepal and Norway on the establishment of a bilateral consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Joint Secretary at the Europe and America Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Nirmal Raj Kafle, and Ambassador of Norway to Nepal Lasse Bjørn Johannessen signed the MoU on behalf of their respective governments today, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This provides a permanent platform to exchange views between the foreign ministries of the two countries in the overall aspects of bilateral relations on a regular basis.

Prior to this, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and Minister of International Development of Norway Dag Inge Ulstein held a meeting at former’s ministry on Monday afternoon. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral relations with a focus on enhancing cooperation in the areas of energy, trade and investment.

Present on the occasion were other members of the Norwegian delegation and officials from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kathmandu and senior officials from the ministry.

Ulstein is on a three-day visit to Nepal to participate in the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Conference being organized in Kathmandu.
