Nepalis return home for Dashain in hordes

NEPALGUNJ: Nepalis working in India traveling back home for Dashain and Tihar are coming in large numbers from the border transit in Nepalgunj.

Over 1,000 people enter Nepal through the Jamunaha border checkpoint on a daily basis currently, according to Area Police Office Jamunaha’s Sub-Inspector Madhav Prasad Rijal.

Hordes of Nepalis can be seen returning from the Indian bordering town Rupaidiha since early morning on rickshaws, horse-drawn carts, and on foot.

Several people are also returning home on direct bus service from different Indian cities.

Likewise, Nepal Police have also set up a Help Desk at the Jamunaha transit to facilitate in the travel of Nepalis returning home from India.

Police in plain clothes have also been mobilized for this purpose.
