Astrologer Arjun Chhetri arrested for predicting mega-earthquake



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested astrologer Arjun Chhetri, 36, on the charge of terrorizing people by predicting a mega-earthquake.

Chhetri had predicted that Nepal will be hit by a mega-earthquake in the Nepali month of Jestha (May/June) in a YouTube video.

DSP Hobindra Bogati at Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu said that he was arrested from Gaushala on Tuesday.

As per the Disaster Risk Mitigation and Management Act, 2074, anyone found guilty of creating fear and terror by spreading rumors about a disaster is liable to a penalty of one hundred thousand rupees or six months jail sentence or both.
