KATHMANDU: Police have rescued 20 underage boys and girls from various club and dance bars in Thamel. A team from the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu rescued them at 3:00 am today under the ‘operation rescue underage’ of Nepal Police.
The children were rescued from a vulnerable situation so as to protect them from criminal incidents that take place in Thamel, DSP Gautam Kumar KC at the Range said. They will be handed over to their parents following necessary counseling.
Nepal Police has been running the campaign in Thamel, Durbar Marg and New Bus Park areas where many children go for such activities, said SSP Basant Kumar Lama, head of MPR, Kathmandu. Earlier, the range had rescued 78 child workers from various hotels, restaurants and clubs in Thamel.
