Judicial Council appoints seven new district judges



KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council (JC) on Tuesday has appointed seven new judges in Rukum, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Jhapa, Dolpa, Saptari and Banke district courts.

The JC has appointed Registrar at the Butwal bench of Tulsipur High Court Gehendra Raj Panta as  the Judge of Bhojpur District Court, while deputy registrar at the Supreme Court (SC) Bidya Raj Paudel has been appointed as the judge of Rukum district court.

Likewise, SC deputy registrar Mahendra Raj Kafle has been appointed the judge of Solukhumbu District Court. Similarly, the registrar at the Mahendranagar bench of Dipayal High Court Tek Raj Joshi has been appointed the judge of Dolpa District Court.

The JC has recommended the deputy registrar at the SC Indira Sharma as the judge of Jhapa District Court while the deputy registrar of SC Rita Kumari Bakhrel has been appointed the judge of Saptari District Court.

Likewise, Deputy SC registrar Man Kumari GM BK has been appointed the judge of Banke District Court.

Meanwhile, the JC has transferred five judges — Amrit Bahadur Basnet from Solukhumbu to Jhapa District Court, Khil Raj Regmi to Bara from Bhojpur District Court; Ambika Prasad Niraula from Nawalpur to Kathmandu District Court, and Tej Bahadur Khadka to Morang from Dolakha District Court. Likewise, the district judge of Rukum Atma Dev Joshi has been transferred to Dhading District Court.
