NRA decides to add 4,000 reconstruction beneficiaries



KATHMANDU: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has added 4,644 post-earthquake reconstruction beneficiaries after redressing 42,742 grievances.

NRA executive committee meeting held on Monday decided to keep genuine quake survivors in the status of beneficiaries following analysis of grievances received from re-survey of missed-out beneficiaries.

The executive committee decided to enlist 410 quake-affected households as ‘potential benefices’ and 3,609 households registering grievances as ‘retrofitting beneficiaries’.

Likewise, the reconstruction authority enlisted 35,709 complainants as non-beneficiaries. Remaining grievances would be further analyzed and its results would be made public, said the NRA sources.

As many as 50 engineers who have been deputed at the central office of NRA are currently analyzing remaining grievances registered under the ‘missed-out and re-assessment survey’.

The earthquake-affected households enlisted as beneficiaries would be entitled to receive Rs 50,000 as the first installment after signing grant agreement through the concerned ward.

Likewise, the committee endorsed three primary plans of integrated settlement development, including one for Rasuwa and two for Makawanpur.

Some 51 displaced households including 46 from Amachhodingmo-2, Sano Hakitol, purchased land at Pangling of the same rural municipality from the grant amount have taken initiative to develop an integrated settlement.

NRA would provide separate grants to each household for physical infrastructure development at integrated settlement. It has decided to provide lump-sum grant of Rs 500,000 each for the house to be built in the integrated settlement in hilly districts, Rs 400,000 each in mountainous districts and Rs 300,000 each in Terai districts.

Also approved are the primary plans of the integrated settlement to be constructed at Raksirang and Kaishal rural municipalities of Makawanpur district.

Some 10 earthquake-affected households would develop an integrated settlement at Manahari rural municipality-6, Jogital. The same numbers of quake-battered households from Kaishal-10, Nyamsedhungatole are also set to develop integrated settlement at Bamaltar of same ward.
