BARA: Animal sacrifice has begun at the infamous Gadimai fair in the district from Tuesday morning after the conclusion of a ritual worship

Thousands of animals including water buffaloes, pigs, goats, chickens, and pigeon have been brought to the fair venue from Nepal and India. A large turnout of devotes has been recorded from India too.

Extreme cruelty is performed during the festival that is held every five years.

Millions of animals are hijacked in the ground with few peoples carrying blunt blades and chase them to slit and beheaded with several attempts leading slow and hard death.

Nepal’s Supreme Court in 2014 had issued a mandamus order to the government to phase out the practice of animal sacrifice by formulating a strategic plan. India’s Supreme Court, too in 2014 had prohibited the transportation of animals from India to Nepal for the festival.

Despite orders, the government of Nepal has failed to come up with a concrete plan to stop the sacrifice and animals are being transported to Nepal from India evading the eyes of law enforcement agencies.
