Prez to receive Rs 177,531 per month as Nepal hikes heavyweights’ salary



KATHMANDU: The government has hiked the salary of President, Vice President, Prime Minister to the lawmakers of both the Lower House of Representatives and National Assembly by 18 percent.

The new salary of the high-ranking officials has been increased effective from July 17 at the proposal of the Ministry of Finance.

According to the new increment, the salary of the Head of State has been increased by Rs 27,081. With the new increment, the President now  will receive Rs 177,531 per month in salary.

Similarly, the salary of Vice President has increased from Rs 106, 030 to Rs 115, 115. Prime Minister’s salary has been hiked from Rs 77280 to Rs 91,190.

Likewise, Chief Justice’s salary has been increased by Rs 13, 262. With the new increment, the Chief Justice will receive Rs 86, 942, Speaker and National Assembly Chairman will receive Rs 79, 438 while Deputy Prime Minister will receive Rs 76, 936 per month.

The government increased the salary of the government officials in the fiscal budget 2019/20, which was unveiled on May 29. The salary of office assistants to non-gazetted first-class officers (Nayab Subba) increased by 20 percent and section officers to chief secretary by 18 percent.
