Rs 1.7 mln expenditure against 14,000 revenue collected



KATHMANDU: Olangchungola Custom Office based in Faktanglung Rural Municipality-7 in Taplejung district has been shut down since the past one year.

According to Tenzing Sherpa, an office assistant, the office was shut down a year ago, a news in Annapurna daily said.

Even though the office has assigned Nayab Subba Bijaya Shrestha, he has not turned up in the office since a long time.

Locals said the transaction at the office was not transparent. Ward Chairman Chheten Bhote said he had paid Rs 65,000 in revenue at a time, but the office had reported to have collected only Rs 18,000 that year.

According to a report prepared by the Office of the Attorney General, Rs 1678, 000 is found to have spent as salary for custom staffers.
