Pakistani doctor booked for infecting 90 with HIV

KARACHI: Pakistani officials have arrested a doctor on the charge of infecting 90 people including 65 children with HIV virus. The doctor has been accused of spreading the virus by using a contaminated syringe, AFP reported.

Police swung into action and arrested the alleged doctor following complaints from the local health authorities in the southern city of Larkana.

It is said that the doctor is also HIV positive.

Pakistan is looked at as a low preponderance country for HIV. However, the disease is spreading due to drugs users, sex workers and laborers returning from the Gulf, authorities say.
