Two die due from scrub typhus in Chitwan



CHITWAN: Two persons have died from scrub typhus in Chitwan district since July, the District Hospital, Chitwan has reported.

The hospital said some 99 people have been infected from scrub typhus since July 17.

According to the District Public Health Office, Chitwan’s kit controller Ram KC, the scrub typhus test was conducted on 1,028 suspects. Among them, 101 were tested positive.

People from several districts such as Chitwan, Tanahu, Gorkha, Makwanpur, Dhading, Rautahat and Bara have been visiting the hospital in Chitwan seeking treatment of this disease.

The bacteria of this scrub typhus is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected bush mite.
