1 mln people left Kathmandu for Dashain in 10 days: MPTD

KATHMANDU: Around 1 million people have left for their home villages to celebrate the Dashain festival, the greatest festival for Hindus. According to the Metropolitan Police Traffic Division (MPTD), a total of 992, 867 passengers departed from Kathmandu as of Tuesday.

Similarly, a total of 119, 467 vehicles have been used to transport the aforementioned passengers.  Meanwhile, police have taken action against 208 unruly drivers.

Help desks have been put up at 14 different places to help passengers in the capital. The help desks have received complaints from the passengers about the unavailability of the tickets.

People are still thronging the ticket counters based at Gongabu, Koteshwar, Gaushala, Kalanki among others.

The pre-ticking booking had started on September 22.
