PM directs timely completion of Lumbini Master Plan

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the Lumbini Development Trust to complete the works of Lumbini Master Plan within the next two and half years.

The Prime Minister during his meeting on Friday with the Trust chair and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai and Trust officials at his official residence in Baluwatar directed attempts towards the establishment of Lumbini as the place of origin of Buddhism and Buddhist philosophy internationally. He was of the view that the identity of Nepal should not be limited just as the birthplace of Gautama Budhha.

According to Trust vice-chair Awadesh Kumar Tripathi, the Trust has been decided to organize the International Conference in upcoming Buddha Jayanti in a bid to develop Lumbini into a specialized center for Buddhist study and to support the Nepal Visit Year 2020 AD.
