KATHMANDU: Lawmaker representing the Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) Mahantha Thakur has expressed the happiness over the government’s decision to allocate additional budget to the construction of the postal highway.

Stating that the construction of the postal highway has been delayed owing to the ineffective implementation, Thakur said the government needs to expedite the project while describing it as historic and strategic.

The government has allocated Rs 13.63 billion for the 1817-kilometer long highway in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Speaking at today’s parliamentary session, Thakur said the land acquisition and compensation issues have delayed the progress. The government has vowed to construct a total of 125 bridges under the project.
