KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress is holding a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Friday to finalize the name of candidates for by-elections to be held on November 30.

The CWC meeting called for 1 pm at the central party headquarters in Sanepa today will pick the name of the candidates, said Krishna Prasad Paudel, chief secretary at the central party office.

It is learned that the meeting will also dwell on the latest political issues, preparations for by-elections and formation of central departments of the party.

The meeting is expected to entrust the office bearers to finalize the candidates since the party’s parliamentary committee has not been formed yet.

Earlier, on Thursday,  an officer-bearers meeting held at party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha held discussions on the name-list of the candidates recommended by the party’s district level, provincial and local units.

The by-election is taking place for a total of 52 seats including a member of the House of Representatives, three provincial members, a mayor, three chiefs and a deputy chief of rural municipalities and 43 ward chairs in 37 districts on November 30.
