KATHMANDU: Fifty-year-old British national has been found dead while climbing Mt. Everest.

A father-of-two Kellinu Portelli, from Leckwith, Cardiff, had been suffering from low blood oxygen levels during the trek and was being monitored by his guide.

He had been raising funds for a cancer charity after he lost his mother-in-law and a close friend to the disease.

On Monday evening he attended a festival with local people before going to bed but a guide found him dead at the base camp on Tuesday morning.

The engineer, known as Kell, had messaged friends and family on WhatsApp to say he was feeling better after receiving medical treatment.
