Nepali woman kills son, hangs self to death in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: For the past 10 days, 24-year-old Shanti Veer Bahadur Sunar, a resident of Darji Sheri in Dholera of Ahmedabad district had been demanding her husband to take her to her parental home in Nepal.

However, her husband Veer Bahadur, who hails from Dadapor in Kanchanpur in Nepal and works in a hotel in Dholera, asked her to wait till he got his salary. Upset at this, the woman on Friday first killed their two-year-old son by slitting his throat with a knife and then hanged herself to death from the ceiling of their one-room house with a dupatta.

“The family is from Kanchanpur in Nepal and ran a noodles shop in Dholera. The woman was insisting on going back to Nepal and her husband had promised to take her there on September 1,” an official said.

“When she learned that her husband had lied to her, she took this extreme step,” the Dholera police station official claimed.
