Police exchange fire with Biplav outfit in Sankhuwasabha

SANKHUWASABHA: Police have exchanged fire with the cadres of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand alias ‘Biplav’  in Silinchong Rural Municipality-1 of the district.

A joint long-range patrol comprising Nepal Police and Armed Police Force exchanged fire with a team of Biplav outfit for about 20 minutes, confirmed  Nepal Police Headquarters.

According to the Headquarters,  police had opened fire on the cadres in retaliation after the latter opened fire targeting the patrol team.

The exchange of fire lasted between the police and Biplav outfit from 9:55 to 10:15 this morning.

Sankhuwasabha District Police Office has conducted a joint long-range patrol in view of Biplav outfit’s increasing activities in various parts of the district.

On June 25, a 19-member patrol team led by Inspector Tikaram Sunar had been deployed.

District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha has confirmed the  clash. However, no casualties have been reported.
