Daughter kills mother to cover her extra-marital relation

KATHMANDU: A daughter took her own mother’s life on the alleged charge of becoming a hurdle to her love affairs.

Police have arrested Ishwari Bhattarai of Changunarayan-7 for allegedly killing her 70-year-old mother Sabitra Bhattarai by using contract killers.

Sabitra was killed by hitmen hired by her own daughter by slitting her throat on Sunday afternoon lest she would leak her lover affairs.

Sabitri had been staying with her youngest daughter in Changunareayan-7 after her husband married a second wife.

Ishwari was in love with Mohammad Naushad of Siraha, currently staying in Bhaktapur. Sabrita was well aware of their relationship. She had had a spat with her daughter over her extramarital relationship.

She had conspired to finish her off in cahoots with her lover, said SSP Shakul Bahadur Thapa of Metropolitan Police Crime Division.

Two contract killers had been hired for 1.2 million from India to murder Sabitra, according to police.

Police have arrested hitmen Indian nationals Arjun Kumar alias Bhola Kumar, Mohammad Rais, Ishwari Bhattarai and her lover Mohammad Nausad.

Police said they are preparing to produce the arrested in the court to extend their remand for further investigation.
