KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to refrain from charging people having low-income and those under risk of infection for coronavirus tests.

The SC made the instruction after the Ministry of Health had on May 15 issued guidelines allowing people to go for rapid diagnostic test (RDT) by paying a certain fee.

A bench of Justice Tej Bahadur KC instructed the government to refrain from implementing the decision.

Advocate Santosh Bhandari had moved the court against the guidelines and the notice issued by the Ministry of Health arguing that people having low income and under risk of infection should not be charged for the tests.
