KATHMANDU: Indian senior Nepal expert Prof S D Muni has alleged Nepal for coming up with a map without survey.
Muni asked which map has Nepal submitted to the United Nations saying that the problem of conflict is British India and Nepal government.
“India has not encroached the Nepalese land,” Prof Muni said adding that China came to this region at the invitation of South Asian countries.
“They (including Nepal) wanted to counter balance their relations with India. The India-China competition is intense; hence it is natural for China to come into Nepal-India issues,” he said.
He was speaking during the webinar organized by Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE), a think tank based in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, Ranjit Rae, former Indian Ambassador to Nepal said, “Nepal-India should have a long-term vision on what kind of relations both the countries want.”
He said that the type of nationalism that is emerging in Nepal is because of India adding that Nepal has set of evidences to claim the disputed territory and India also have similar set of evidences and both the sides should sit and resolve the issue amicably.
Likewise, senior fellow at IIDS, Akhilesh Upadhyay said the issue of Kalapani has to be resolved at the political level.
Dr. Conatantino Xaviers, Fellow at Brookings suggested both the sides to initiate dialogue to resolve the issue.
