KATHMANDU: Nepal confirmed nine new coronavirus cases on Thursday afternoon, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
With this, the number of coronavirus-infected people in the country has reached 453 out of which 49 have recovered and discharged, according to the Ministry.
Speaking at the regular press briefing Dr. Bikash Devkota said that nine new persons, all men, are infected in Rupandehi and Jhapa districts.
He said that eight cases have been reported in Jhapa in men aged 17, 18, 18, 20, 20, 23, 52, 55 years. Similarly, a man aged 27 years is confirmed to be infected.
All of them are in normal health conditions, Dr. Devkota said.
Likewise, 3,413 sample tests were performed through the PCR method in the last 24 hours, he added.
Earlier, on Thursday morning, Nepal report 17 new coronavirus cases.
Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari informed 16 of them are male and one is female.
According to him, 15 people from Kachankabal rural municipality, Jhapa aged 18, 18, , 319, 19, 22, 23, 23, 25, 26, 26, 28, 30 , 32, 37, 46 and one from Dhankuta aged 34 and one woman from Dharan Sub Metropolitan City, Sunsari aged 51 have tested positive for the pandemic virus.
The new cases were confirmed after their swabs results came out to be positive at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar.
Kapilvastu district on Wednesday also reported 13 cases. Out of 13 cases, 6 are male aged 12, 22, 35, 48, 20,24, and 34. Similarly, the age of females infected in Kapilvastu district are 3, 4, 5, 16. 25, 32.
Likewise, Nawaparashi (West) reported the first case of COVID-19. A 25-year-old man has been diagnosed with the virus.
Meanwhile, 8 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar on Wednesday night after recovering from the virus.
Three COVID-19 patients of Bhulke Masjid and five patients of Udayapur Triyuga-3, Bhulke were discharged from the hospital after testing negative for the virus in three PCR tests.
Similarly, on Thursday, four COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at the Teku-based Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital (Teku Hospital) have recovered.
Hospital’s Director Dr. Sagar Rajbhandari said that four of the five patients undergoing treatment at the hospital have recovered.
According to Dr. Rajbhandari, they are being discharged after their two consecutive test reports came negative for coronavirus.
Three persons have died so far from COVID-19 in Nepal.
