NA endorses Special Service Bill

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) has endorsed the controversial Special Service Bill that allows intelligence authorities to tap telephone conversations without the court’s orders.

With this, the Bill will be discussed in the House of Representatives (HoR), and if it the HoR endorses it, the Bill a ‘Nepal Special Service’ will be constituted with the rights to tap people’s telephone conversation.

Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, and others have protested the bill saying that such a move would violate people’s right to privacy.
