COVID-19: Some 674 Nepalis infected in Saudi Arabia



KATHMANDU: The number of Nepali migrant workers infected with Coronavirus pandemic in Saudi Arabia has reached 674.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Riyadh, 674 Nepali migrant workers including 11 women have been infected. This is the highest number of infection cases in Nepali people, according to the Embassy.

The highest 336 Nepali migrant workers were infected in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia, 175 in Riyadh, 3 in Qasim, 148 in the western part including Mecca, Madina, Jeddah, and Jazan, 3 in Hayal Region and 9 in other parts of the country. Some Nepalis have returned home after recovery.

According to the Embassy, a total of 31 Nepalis have died in Saudi Arabia due to various causes since the country imposed lockdown. However, only one of them has died of Coronavirus.

The death toll in Saudi Arabia has climbed to 264 after nine died in the last 24 hours, according to Worldometer. With 1,911 cases, the number infection cases has reached 42, 925 so far.

Currently, 27, 404 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the contry, of which 147 are critical. Meanwhile, 15, 257 have returned home after treatment.
