Five broomers fanned out to clean Kathmandu roads



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has fanned out five modern broomers to clean Kathmandu roads from Tuesday. The broomers were imported from Italy. KMC has finalized five routes for the broomers in a bid to get the city free from dust. Broomers were purchased at Rs 21.7 million each.

Here’s the route

Route 1: Beginning Teku to Kalanki and then to Soalteemode-Teku-Tripureshwor-Sundhara-New Road-Mahangkaal-Jamal-Lazimpat-Shital Niwas-Teaching Hospital-Naryan Gopal Chowk. Likewise, Jamal-Ghantaghar to Sahidgate.

Route 2: Teku-Tripureshwor-Thapathali-Maitigahr-Babarmahal-Baneshwor-Tinkune to Tribhuvan International Airport. Then to Koteshwor-Pepsicola-Koteshwor-New Baneshwor-Maitighar-Thapathali-Tripureshwor-Kalimati and ending in Balkhu.

Route 3:  Teku-Tripureshwor-Bhotahity-Sigha Durbar to Putalisadak. Then to Kamaladi-Jaya Nepal Hall-Durbarmarg-Narayanhiti-Lazimpat, PM’s residence ending at Maharajgun. While returning, the broomer will ply on Shitwal Niwas-Pani Pokhari-Lainchour-Sorkhakhutte-Balaju-Link road-Naradevi and stop at Teku road.

Route 4: Putalisadak from Teku and then to Kamal Pokhari- Gyaneshwor-Maitidevi-Old Baneshwor-Sinamagal-Airport-Gaushala-Chabahil to Hyatt Hotel. Then to Chabahil-Gaushala-Old Baneshwor-Maitidevi-Putalisadak-Singha Durbar to Teku.

Route 5 : Tripureshwor starting from Teku then to New Road Gate-Basantapur-Indrachowk-New Road-Mahankal-Jamal-Kesharmahal and to Durbarmarg among other places.
