PCR machine unused in Karnali



KARNALI: A PCR machine installed at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) has not been used due to the lack of testing kits.

The machine, meant for conducting the coronavirus test, was installed last Tuesday.

According to the Academy’s rheumatologist and Director Dr Mangal Rawal, they are expecting to receive the testing kits by Sunday.

He said required human resources have been readied to operate the machine adding that they will start the testing once they get the kits.

Academy registrar Bishwaraj Kafle informed that the machine has the capacity of testing 96 samples at a time informing that 200 kits had arrived in Surkhet on the initiation of Academy Vice Chancellor Dr Paras Kumar Acharya.

A team has already left for Surkhet to receive the kits. The PCR machine was purchased at the cost of Rs 2.7 million.
