India hints at lockdown relaxations, allows stranded to return home



NEW DELHI: With a significant number of students and migrant workers stranded at several places due to the nationwide lockdown, India government announced plans to allow their movement in a bid to help them reach their homes, including by crossing state borders.

The Union Home Ministry passed an order allowing the people’s inter-state movement to reach their destinations, however, subject to certain conditions, , Indian media reports have said.

This will apply to tourists, pilgrims, students and people stranded at different places.

The coronavirus tally in the country increased to 1,008. The number of confirmed COVID-19 infections has rose to 31,787. As many as 7,800 people have recovered so far.
