Coronavirus infection cases cross 11,000 mark in Pakistan



KATHMANDU: The number of infection cases has reached 11, 057 in Pakistan after 981 tested positive for Coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 23 died in a single day to reach the tally 235 as of Friday morning.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, who had to undergo the coronavirus test after he came in contact with a patient a few days ago, has tested negative.

Currently, 8, 485 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 60 are critical. A total of 2,337 have returned home after recovery.

Meanwhile, Dr Zafar Mirza has warned that the Covid-19 situation during the month of Ramazan could become more serious. “It will be a time in which every person should do self-accountability if he/she is contributing to the spread of disease and what kind of role they have played in stopping the spread of disease,” Pakistani media quoted him as saying.

According to Dr Mirza, as many as 66 per cent of virus cases spread due to local transmission in the country.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 190, 496 and infecting 2,716, 320 people as of Friday morning.
