Malaysia to carry out COVID-19 tests on migrant workers  en masse

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia government is set to carry out screening on foreigners en masse with the increase in the number of foreigners infected with COVID-19.

The Malaysia government started keeping a close watch on the migrant workers, of late,  after a large number of immigrants were found infected with the novel virus.

General Director of the Ministry of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the government is preparing to carry out screenings on the foreigners en masse since the country has  a large number of migrant workers.

The death toll in Malaysia has reached 89 after one more died in the last 24 hours. With 84 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 5, 389 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 2, 103 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 46 are critical. A total of 3, 197 have returned home after recovery.
