Security forces kill 18 during lockdown in Nigeria



ABUJA: Nigerian security forces have killed 18 people during the lockdown clamped in Nigeria to stem the spread of Covid-19.

According to the country’s human rights body, the figure is higher than the documented toll inflicted by the disease.

According to Al Jazeera, eight of those killed were by correctional officers in the northwest Kaduna state.

Similarly, the police were accused of killing seven and the army were allegedly responsible for two deaths and a local committee enforcing the lockdown in the southeast was responsible for killing one individual.

Nigeria has registered more than 442 confirmed cases, including 13 deaths as of Friday morning.
