DSP Umesh Lamshal recalled to MPCO over thrashing of docs

KATHMANDU: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Umesh Lamshal, In-charge at Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, has been recalled to Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office (MPCO), Ranipokhari.

Lamshal was recalled to MPCO for an investigation into an incident in which security personnel thrashed doctors, according to MPCO Chief DIG Bishworaj Pokharel.

DIG Pokharel said that a senior Inspector has been assigned as Acting In-charge at Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj.

Police had attacked three doctors while they were returning after completing their duties.

Doctors Tej Prakash Sha and Shambhu Khanal of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) and Dr. Bikash Sha of Kanti Children’s Hospital were baton-charged by the law enforcement agency on Wednesday night.

The police team was led by DSP Lamshal.

Meanwhile, MPCO has formed a three-member committee led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kiran Bajracharya to investigate into the incident.
