34 Brazilian nationals evacuated from Nepal



KATHMANDU: 34 Brazilian nationals stranded in Nepal due to COVID-19 lockdown have been evacuated on Tuesday.

They were taken to Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi of India by a narrow-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

They will be then sent to Brazil along with Brazilians in India.

The Brazilian Embassy in Kathmandu has charted an Airbus A320-233 aircraft with a call sign ‘9N-AKX’ for the evacuation. The aircraft will return today.

So far, more than 4,000 tourists have been evacuated after Nepal enforced the lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19.
