KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two people on the charge of posting misleading information about distinguished persons, including Prime Minister KP Oli, on Facebook.

Those arrested Tara Nachhiring, 36, of Ainselukharka, Khotang, currently living in Budhanilkantha of Kathmandu and Ram Kumar Shrestha, 46, of Ward Number 5 of Panauti Municipality, according to the Cyber Crime Police Bureau.

A team from the Bureau arrested them after discovering that Shrestha had committed an indecent act using PM Oli’s photo to the effect of tarnishing his reputation.

The Bureau said they would be tried under the Electronic Transaction Act, 2063 and the existing laws governing the electronic media.
