Province 5 sacks ‘absent’ doctors

LUMBINI: The government of Province 5 fired five doctors of the Lumbini Provincial Hospital on the charge of failing to come to the duty during the crucial time of coronavirus pandemic.

Those taken action against include Prakash Neupane of the ENT department, Tara Prasad Sharma and Bardan Wali of radiology department, Subas Chaudhary of the urosurgery department and Prakriti Karki of emergency department.

They were working on a contract basis.

Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Rajendra Khanal informed that they did not turn up without informing the hospital administration.

According to Dr Khanal, the Social Development Minister Sudarshan Baral had instructed the hospital to sack them immediately.

Meanwhile, Minister Baral said he has been regularly checking the hospital staff’s attendance on an everyday basis.

He has also instructed the government hospitals to immediately sack doctors and other staff if they took leave without informing the authorities except in cases of bereavement, childbirth, and sickness.
