Rapid test kits brought from China being tested today

KATHMANDU: The government is conducting the test of the rapid testing kits procured from China in three districts — Baglung, Kailali and Kanchanpur.

The kits will be distributed to several districts for large-scale testing if they are found to be effective, government authorities have said.

A meeting of the Cabinet meeting on Saturday had decided to conduct mass testing in three districts – one from Gandaki Province and two from Sudur Paschim Province – the provinces where most cases of COID-19 have been reported.

The researchers at the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) are involved in the test.

The government currently has some 75,000 rapid diagnostic test kits that were procured from China last week. However, they were yet to be used after several European countries recalled the China-made rapid testing kits for being defective.
