2,100 Nepali Army personnel under quarantine



KATHMANDU: Nepali Army has kept more than 2,100 Nepal Army personnel under quarantine in a bid to control the spread of coronavirus.

The staffers who have recently arrived in Nepal after serving in the United Nations peacekeeping missions and attending the training abroad.

According to Bigyan Dev Pandey, spokesperson at Nepal Army, 2,120 NA officials have been kept under quarantine established by the Army. Nepal Army has established quarantine camps with the capacity to accommodate over 4, 290 people across the country recently.

Similarly, 39 staffers have been kept in Isolation wards. They have been diagnosed with symptoms similar to that of coronavirus’. Nepal Army has established a 506-bed isolation ward.

According to the latest figures collated by Johns Hopkins University, the deadly virus has claimed more than 59, 000 and infected over 1,100,000 people as of Saturday morning.

As many as 5, 973 people died and over 59, 141 were infected in the last 24 hours globally.
