KATHMANDU: Nepal has currently enforced a two-week-long lockdown to contain a spread of coronavirus.

All the offices expect those delivering essential services have been closed. People have been told to stay indoors and not to come out of their houses except for emergency cases.

Vehicles have stayed off the road while commuters are not visible on the pavements in the capital.

Meanwhile, Google has come up with a mobility report to help the public health officials understand responses to social distancing guidance related to COVID-19.

According to the report, mobility to retail & recreation has decreased by 78 percent compared to baseline. It includes mobility trends for places like restaurants, cafes, shopping centers, theme parks, museums, libraries, and movie theaters.

The baseline is the median value, for the corresponding day of the week, during the 5-week period Jan 3–Feb 6, 2020.

Likewise, mobility trends for places like grocery markets, food warehouses, farmer markets, specialty food shops, drug stores, and pharmacies have also decreased by 69 percent.

Mobility trends for places like national parks, public beaches, marinas, dog parks, plazas, and public gardens have also decreased by 55 percent, according to the report.

The report states that mobility trends for places like public transport hubs such as subway, bus, and train stations have decreased by 74 percent and mobility trends for places of work have fallen by 72 percent.

Mobility trends for places of residence have increased by 28 percent, states the report by Google.
