COVID-19 fear: Over 700,000 people leave Kathmandu in a week

KATHMANDU: More than 700,000 people have left the Kathmandu Valley from March 14 till Saturday owing to the fear of COVID-19.

According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, the number of people leaving Kathmandu Valley for their hometown via Nagdhunga, Jagati, Pharping and Nagarjun checkpoints has increased significantly in the last one week.

The Division said around 71,556 people left the capital city on last Saturday, 86,327 on Sunday, 88,201 on Tuesday, 91,816 on Tuesday, 95,247 on Wednesday, 108,458 on Thursday and 130,822 on Friday.
