IGP Khanal off to Thailand



KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sarbendra Khanal left here for Thailand today to take part in the third security officials’ meeting of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical Economic Cooperation).

He is leading the Nepali delegation to the two-day meeting starting on Thursday. Others in the delegation include Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Force, Khadga Bahadur Rai, National Investigation Department’s investigation director Laxman Gurung, and section officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Somesh Thapa.

Agendas of discussion in the meeting include terrorism, smuggling of arms and ammunition and human trafficking issues, drugs peddling, among others.
