Hailstones damage crop in Bajura



BAJURA: Hailstones coupled with rain have damaged wheat crop, vegetables and fruit farms here Saturday.

The Budhiganga, Badimalika municipality and other local level units in the lower part of the district experienced hailstorm for more than an hour, leading to significant damage to crops, said the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Bajura.

Near-harvest wheat, barley and vegetables were damaged. The extent of the damage is yet to be calculated, said information office of the Centre Min Prasad Jaisi.

The farmers have suffered a great loss as a result of the hailstorm, Triveni ward no. 3 chairman Min Bhandari confirmed.

Meanwhile, the center has urged the concerned authority to provide relief support to the farmers who have suffered as a result of Saturday hailstorm, according to Acting Chief Govinda Sijapati.
