KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) has taken a nosedive on Tuesday, second trading day (Monday closed) of the week.
The benchmark index went down by four percent in less than an hour in the very beginning of the transaction, prompting a circuit break.
The Nepse which resumed after 20 minutes was forced to shut down for the second time again after it witnessed a fall by 5 percent in the period of 10 minutes at 12:30 pm.
The Nepse plummeted by 57.36 points in the first one hour and by 72 points in the second time at 12:30 pm.
Nepse resumed today after remaining shut for four days.
Life-insurance index has plummeted by 610 pints, followed by non-life insurance index by 312 points.
Despite a steep fall, the benchmark index witnessed a transaction of Rs 91 million during the transaction prior to 12:30 pm today.
With the coronavirus taking a toll across the world, Nepse has also suffered a steep fall of late.
