Remarkable progress in PM Oli’s health: TUTH

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) says Prime Minister KP Oli is recuperating after he underwent a kidney transplant on Wednesday.

The newly transplanted kidney has started functioning, according to the hospital.

“The PM’s condition is stable, all the procedures including injection and feeding to be carried post-operation are taking place,” said Dr Prem Khadga, Executive Director at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

Dr Prem Raj Gyawali, who led the team of doctors, said PM Oli’s transplanted kidney is functioning well as the metabolic by-products in his body have been flushed out through urine.

PM Oli underwent a kidney transplant at the TUTH on Wednesday.

As his health condition has remained stable, doctors have provided liquid food to PM Oli.

If the Prime Minister’s health condition improves as expected, he will be discharged in a week, according to doctors.

Likewise, the health condition of Samikshya Sangraula, a lady from Jhapa, who donated the kidney to PM Oli, is also stable, according to doctors.

PM Oli underwent a second kidney transplant with the first one done at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi some 12 years ago.

With the kidney transplant at TUTH, PM Oli now has four kidneys — two of his own, and two transplanted.
