Indian national arrested with 6 kg gold in Nepal

HETAUDA: An Indian national has been arrested in the district with gold weighing more than six kilograms.

According to police, Abdul Majid Anekal, 42, hailing from the Indian State of Karnataka, was arrested from a bus heading to Birgunj from Kathmandu.

SP Sushil Singh Rathore said police found the precious yellow metal concealed in bearings when they stopped the bus for a routine check at Hetauda-15, Ratemate along the East-West Highway.

He has been handed over to the Pathlaiya-based Revenue Investigation Office for further action.

The seized gold fetches over Rs 40 million in the domestic market.
