We are dedicated to our duties in line with Constitution: CoAS Thapa



BANKE: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa said Nepal Army has been honestly fulfilling its duties and responsibilities in line with the Constitution of Nepal since history to the present.

Inaugurating the fifth convention of the former Nepal armies organized at Charbahini Barrack in Nepalgunj on Thursday, CoAS said, “We all in-service and former Nepal armies are always and should be dedicated to our service to keep the glorious history created by our ancestors intact.”

“National unity is the basis of security,” said CoAS Thapa, adding, “To maintain the national unity is the constitutional responsibility of Nepal Army.”

He informed that Nepal Army has started renovating historical monuments, building a war museum in Sindhuligadhi, viewpoint tower at Prithvigadhi in Kavre and storeroom of arms and ammunition in Palpa.

Similarly, various welfare programs have been launched in a bid to improve the economic condition of former Nepal armies, added Thapa.

Meanwhile, Thapa distributed wheelchairs and crutches to physically challenged former Nepal soldiers.

Also speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General Gaurab Tandul said Nepal Army has been running various welfare activities from its welfare fund of Rs 50 billion.
