MPs suggest Madan Bhandari University be specialized on science, technology

KATHMANDU: Parliamentarians today suggested that the bill should be drafted in such a way that the proposed Madan Bhandari University would run classes exclusively on science and technology.

Taking part in a clause-wise discussion on the bill on the proposed university on Thursday, members of the Education and Health Committee under the House of Representatives said that Madan Bhandari University should be made specialized only in science and technology.

Committee President Jayapuri Gharti stated that as the bill has incorporated other areas for the study amendment would be made to run classes only in science and technology fields.

Earlier, the bill had proposed 85 percent of classes in science and technology and others with 15 percent weightage but this provision would be changed to make the university entirely focused on science and technology.

Education Minister Girirajmani Pokharel said that pure and practical science and technology would be taught adding that the institution would be within the top 200 universities of the world.
