KATHMANDU: The government has decided to forward to the Ministry of Home Affairs a report prepared on the possibility of withdrawing criminal cases filed against Gen Z protesters for necessary implementation.
A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday decided to send the report prepared by a committee led by former judge Baburam Regmi to the Ministry of Home Affairs for necessary action, government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmit Pokhrel said.
The committee was formed to investigate and recommend whether criminal cases filed in connection with incidents during the Gen Z movement could be withdrawn.
The Cabinet also approved the acceptance of a grant of around Rs 100 million equivalent from the Norwegian government for a programme promoting clean energy transition in municipalities, Pokhrel said.
The meeting also approved the Nepal Engineering Service (Formation, Group and Category Classification and Appointment )(Second Amendment) Regulations, 2083.
Likewise, the Cabinet approved the Alternative Development Finance Mobilisation Rules, 2083. It also decided to promote Joint Secretary Padma Kumar Mainali to the post of secretary under the Nepal Engineering Service grouping and assign him to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
