Traffic lights installed at eight crossroads in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) and the Department of Roads have installed traffic lights in eight various crossroads of Kathmandu Valley.

With this, traffic lights, which had stopped working for long, have been brought into operation in those areas.

Chief of MTPD, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhim Prasad Dhakal informed that the traffic lights have been brought into operation at Padmodayamod, Putalisadak, Old Baneshwor, Singha Durbar, Teenkune, New Baneshwor, Gaushala and Mahapal of Lalitpur.

SSP Dhakal said the traffic lights would also be operated at Kalimati, Mitrapark, Tankeshwor, Paropakar and Pulchowk in the near future.

According to the MTPD, the traffic lights were installed at crossroads in the Kathmandu Valley after 13 years after the Prime Minister, Home Minister and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) showing concern on the matter.

SSP Dhakal is hopeful that the installation of traffic lights would help in traffic management thus reducing traffic accidents in the Valley.
