SC summons govt over lease extension of Gokarna Forest Resort



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has summoned the government to discuss the lease extension of Gokarna Forest Resort.

Hearing a writ filed by advocate Bishnu Luitel, a single bench of Justice Kumar Regmi on Tuesday summoned the government on January 26 to decide wheatear an interim order is necessary.

The government, through a Cabinet meeting, had decided to extend the lease period of the resort by 25 years before the current term expired. Regmi had moved the apex court demanding to annul the decision.

SC asked the defendants to furnish a written clarification on extending the lease period.
